Sometime in December whilst I was in Tokyo or Kuala Lumpur or Singapore, we rolled past the 5M views for photos. Unfortunately we didn’t reach the potential 7M projection that I made in the previous Google Guides post – and I think I know why (more below)… Our current views as at 10th January, 2024 is 5,389,088 views! (from 1,255 photos).
During the Japan trip I added 300+ photos in the space of 3 weeks; However, during this time I only added 9 reviews related to those photos. Whilst adding a single photo, can reap huge rewards – such as the Parkway Parade photo that has garnered nearly 275K views in just 2 months (to be the 2nd most viewed of all my added photos); If they aren’t attached to a review they don’t have as much opportunity to be seen in larger numbers, as they’ll get lost in the rotation – particularly at popular tourist locations or restaurants.
During the trip we also captured the Master Photographer badge. This requires:
- Volume: Add 1,000 Photos (1225/1000)
- Reach: Add Photos of 100 Places (274/100)
- Impact: Get Over 1,000,000 Photo Views (5,341,712)
I’m also currently just 7 reviews away from the Master Reviewer badge. I’ve got enough review drafts to tick that over; having visited so many fantastic places in Japan. However, I tend to do reviews on a whim as they come to me; sometimes whilst looking at photos, and sometimes just from a eureka moments … so they could be completed this week, or next month, you just never know.
