Some time after completing the Cyberpunk 2077, Phantom Liberty main story mission, you will receive a text from Ashlay (a former tech-savvy netrunner of Charon Exotics) who offers you the opportunity to obtain – grand theft auto style – the Quadra Sport R-7 “Charon” sports car rental that the Cassel ginger twins – Aurore and Aymeric – were driving. This will begin the Moving Heat mission.
This is actually a really tough mission; I failed in stealth (it’s not my build) and basically it turned into full combat mode early doors! Once you get into the actual garage itself there are a couple of well-placed gun turrets that you can quickhack to aid you – and you are probably gonna need them as the enemies here not only have good cover and guns, but they are in plentiful supply. They also have extremely good eyesight and can hit you with clear shots no matter where you are. There’s also a few heavy gunners wandering around eager to rip you to shreds with their Militech Mk. 31 HMG (heavy machine gun).
There is also a car crew that jumps the barricade to try and surprise you to death. Check out the carnage (The body count is 27):
Moving Heat Bug: I Made It To The Map Location, But The Charon Car Is Missing! Dude Where’s My Car?
The Missing Car Bug: Once you’ve elminated everyone and head to the car there is an interesting bug that can occur – the car is not there!!! (it happened to me 3 times, even on pre-mission reloads).
The Solution: (I’m on XBOX XS console) Unfortunately, you’ll need to reload a save from BEFORE you attempted the mission. I actually went and did other jobs before coming back to try again, as my earliest pre-mission reload still had the bug – that seemed to solve the problem. I suspect you have to be away from the area to not trigger it on a reload.
The Barrier Won’t Lower Bug: If you save and reload at any point inside the garage, the barrier at the exit won’t lower when you reach it with the car. You can ramp it — the car makes it over — but the game doesn’t register it as an exit. The objective stays stuck on “exit with the car” no matter how far you drive. Dogtown, Night City, doesn’t matter. The mission log just sits there and will not update.
The Solution: (I’m on XBOX XS console) Unfortunately, you’ll need to do the entire garage sequence in one go. No saves, no reloads, no dying. If anything goes wrong inside, reload a save from before you entered and start the garage again from scratch. This makes it an absolute pain for stealth builds, so make sure you are perked up before attempting this one, or you could be in for a lot of do-overs.

How To Stealth Through The Moving Heat Mission
Update 23rd September, 2026: On my current playthrough I’ve been stealthing through a lot more of the missions and using clever quickhacks and techniques to avoid going loud everytime. So I decided to share with you how I got through this one!
The top section is easy, but keep an eye on the cameras and turn them all off as you go (there’s 3 or 4 in this area and they spot you quick). Your scanner is your best friend here. I use the Kiroshi “The Oracle” Optics (the one with all the tendrils off the back) eye cyberware because it highlights camera’s, enemies and explosives and I use all 3 to get through stealth missions.
If you have a good silenced pistol, or even the Overwatch, and you’re not great at stealth, these help. Pick the guards off silenced. I used Bait quite a few times to lure individual guards into my area then headshot them with Padre’s Seraph (I put a silencer on it) – but you could use Reed’s iconic Pariah or Alex’s Iconic Her Majesty instead.
Once you get to the garage, your old mate Ashlay texts you to “get into the truck”. This is the trickiest part of the mission, you have to get behind the truck that has just pulled into the guard patrol without being seen (there is another truck parked in the garage that you can use for cover). Once behind the truck jump into the tray and crouch and you should stay hidden…
You may see the guards alerted, and get the sound warning, and it is tight but if you are quick enough you can get in without them noticing.
From the safety of the truck tray I also made sure to turn off turrets and cameras as we approached them. You’ll pull up to a closed roller door which has a ceiling turret, which I turned off. The guard opens the door, so just stay crouch-hidden in the truck there’s nothing else to do, until the truck reaches its destination.
Once the truck stops: The driver will get out and walk away from the truck with his back to you; I executed him with a headshot, but I don’t recommend this because there is another guard near his vicinity, and he found him as I was driving out with the car, which means there isn’t much time here.
The truck, once parked, is positioned directly opposite the Charon Exotics Quadra Sport R-7 “Charon” car (assuming you’ve avoided the bug at this point). You’ll notice on the HUD that it is indicating with the yellow dashes that the car is 100m away; ignore this as the car is literally directly opposite the truck.
Go get in the car and Ashlay will text you again with instructions to wipe the car history. Rockerboy Johnny Silverhand, classic car aficionado himself, appears in the passenger seat also and has some cool dialog with you about the car.
Once the cars historical logs are wiped you’ll be prompted to start the car and can safely drive back towards the guard patrol(s) – In my playthrough this is where the guard had spotted the body but I had driven off so it didn’t matter – you roll straight through the first guard post with the roller door but once you get to the second guard patrol, they order you to stop the car. Stay cool Milly! It is a fairly long wait as the guard consults his tablet, but then he’ll say something to the effect of the screen glitching or something, and he moves out of the way of the car.
Exit the garage up the ramp to the right, and turn right at the top to drive out past the other guards and Militech mech – Boom! Thrillhouse!, you own a new car!
Ashlay is also impressed with your efforts and sends you a bunch of text messages. Congrats the Charon is yours! However, if you didn’t stealth then the below might be just what you are looking for…
Help! I’ve Got The Car, And I’ve Got Out Of The Garage But I Can’t Evade The 4-Star Wanted Level & Enemies!
Here’s What I Did: Upon clearing the enemies and getting in the car, there is much more battling to do, as waves of enemies pour out from the areas you’ve cleared, and there’s always a skull-enemy with 3 health-bars to contend with. They riddle the car with bullets – so instead make yourself the target by getting out of the car and wiping them all out.
Once you’ve cleared all these enemies your nightmare isn’t over, it’s only just beginning as your contact Ashlay betrays you using her netrunner skills to give you a 4-star wanted rating with the NCPD; if you drive out of that garage, with the damage already done to the car you are absolute toast.

You can cheese this if you want. I tried a couple of times to drive out of there and I just couldn’t avoid the pursuit. It’s really tricky driving because of all the obstacles in dogtown, with the heavily damaged car, in the dark… so I decided to cheese.
Cheesing the wanted rating: So, to do that, just sit at the entryway/exit to the garage and wait until your wanted meter flashes and disappears, then you can slowly and gingerly nurse the car out of there (or save once the stars disappear), and you have your new car.
