This covers the time period for Monday Aug 22nd through to Friday Aug 26th 2022.
Update Friday 2nd September, 2022: It’s been almost a full week of downtime across the majority of sites we monitor within Google Search Console, but I can report that we’re seeing a big influx of data, covering the performance reports, and also big indexation numbers (one of the sites had 10K pages indexed within the week). It’s great to see the validation reports within Google Search Console are also being processed again also … and they are moving fairly quickly.
Update Saturday 27th August, 2022: Around 2/3 of the sites we maintain have had their last updated timers reset in Google Search Console since the time of the initial post, however the data didn’t change at all and those counters are now back into double digits approaching 20 hours. The remaining set of sites we manage has seen no change in the timers which are now well over 50+ hours since the last update. For all clients we are seeing zero movement in the coverage/pages indexation report. Something is seriously wrong at Google, and probably correlates with all the recently aesthetic changes made to the platform. Meanwhile Bing has indexed pages posted yesterday, whilst Google hasn’t indexed any pages in over 2 weeks now.
Friday 26th August, 2022: Google Search Console’s Performance Report appears to be stuck again, with huge delays recently, culminating in a 40-hour plus long delay currently across more than 15 of our clients site data.
This comes off the back of a challenging time for Google earlier in August, when on Tuesday 9 Aug, 2022 it was reported by CNBC that Google had been down for almost an entire day across UK, US, Australia and Singapore. This was later confirmed by Downdetector.com. It was also reported by CNBC that there was an explosion at one of their datacenters in Iowa.
In this instance marketers had been reporting the following occurring as a result:
- Unavailability of the Google Search Engine
- Old pages dropping out of the Google Search Engine index
- New pages not being indexed by the Google Search Engine
- Google Search Engine results looking stale and outdated
- Huge keyword ranking fluctuations across the board
Also, on Tuesday 26th July, 2022 Google’s Support team confirmed there were major glitches with the data in the Google search console discover reporting
It should be noted, that Google is usually pretty quick at fixing these sorts of issues, via either roll-back, or roll-forward — so here’s hoping that this will be rectified shortly.
What we are also seeing is major delays in Google Search Console Indexation Reporting both the uptake of sitemaps, the ability to validate, and the actual indexation of pages.
This may be a side-effect of Google recently changing the visual aspect of the charts, and also including video indexation reports (live from Monday 22nd Aug, 2022) — all of which is a welcome change, despite the disruptions.
We’ll keep monitoring and provide any updates as we see them come through. If you are experiencing difficulties with Google Search Console reports for either indexation or performance, please share in the comments below!
I’m seeing the same on my website! It’s like Google is refusing to index the pages or something…
