What it is: Yorinobu Arasaka’s personal Rayfield Caliburn. Weaponised, bulletproof tyres, stupid fast.
Where to get it: “Freedom”, a patch 2.3 gig from Muamar “El Capitan” Reyes.
Unlocks after: The Beast In Me (Badlands and Santo Domingo), Transmission, and Search and Destroy.
Top speed: 210 mph (about 338 km/h). 211 mph downhill.
Cost: Free, and it’s yours to keep. Cap wants nothing to do with it.
Pro tip: Before you chase the car, use the tablet next to the laptop to add yourself to the Mordred whitelist. It’s optional, but skip it and the alarm triggers a wanted level when you climb in.
How to Unlock the Freedom Gig: Stealing Yorinobu Arasaka’s Caliburn Mordred
You don’t need Phantom Liberty for this one. The Mordred landed in Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.3, so as long as you’re updated, you’re in.
You do need to have knocked over four missions first:
- The Beast In Me: Badlands
- The Beast In Me: Santo Domingo
- Transmission
- Search and Destroy
Once they’re done, Muamar “El Capitan” Reyes hits you up with a text and the Freedom Gig unlocks. At this point he has no idea whose car he’s sending you after. Enjoy that while it lasts.
Head to the Coronado Dam, find what’s left of the engineer, and the gig kicks off from there.
How to Steal the Caliburn Mordred
The first part of the mission starts off classic Muamar-style. Go do something, to find the co-ords to do something else – yeah thanks Cap! Head out to the Coronado Dam and find the blown up engineer amongst the carnage. Scan him and read the shard which gives you the co-ordinates of a construction site on Sequoia Street & Bullard Street. Quickest way there is via the Almunecar & Jerez Fast Travel Point. When you arrive the car is heavily guarded by Arasaka. There’s a skull enemy and also a hidden sniper on the scaffolding amongst the Arasaka private guards – wipe ’em out and let’s get that car!
This next bit is tricky, so it’s easier to break it down into steps that you do in order:
Step 1: Hack the Laptop
Open the laptop (you have to be standing in front of it), then hack in via the minigame. Once you complete hacking to login the car takes off! (forget about that for now)…
Step 2: Read ALL of the files and messages
Read through all of the messages, including files, which you need to read to get the prompt to contact El Capitan. You’ll also see who is currently on the whitelist
Step 3: Text El Capitan
Then you need to text Muamar and he goes bananas worse than herbie, when he finds out it’s Yorinobu Arasaka’s car. Being cool as shit V this playthrough, I said Whatevs, I’m klepping it!
Step 4: Find the Car’s Skeleton Key
Then you are prompted to search the area, and given a yellow rectangle to search within. What you are searching for is the Caliburn “Mordred” Skeleton Key, which operates the car. It’s on a toolbench opposite the laptop about two car widths away. The key is hidden behind the hanging spanner display.
Step 5: Add Yourself to the Car’s Whitelist
You’re prompted to go follow the car but resist the urge because you are not done yet. When you read the messages on the laptop you would have seen two names on the Car Whitelist file for the car in there, Yorinobu Arasaka and Arlene Anwyl (who is the engineer that is tuning the car).
You want to add yourself to the Whitelist. To do this on a table next to the laptop there is a bunch of car diagnostic screens, and a tablet. Position yourself in front of the tablet and you are given the prompts to “Add yourself to the Mordred White list”.
Once you’ve done that THEN go get the car!
How to Find and Stop the Caliburn Mordred
The car is driving the same path the runaway Delamain Car did during Epistrophy: Rancho Coronado when it had you ruthlessly murder a bunch of porcelain pink flamingos. You are given a large yellow rectangle search area. Be patient here, because the car is not the easiest to find, and you might think this is bugged, but you almost need to hear it before you see it. As soon as it’s in your eyeline, the search area becomes a yellow proximity beacon on the car and now you can just follow it.
You now need to stop the car; I equipped a silenced pistol and shot it half a dozen times and it pulls up; I use the silencer for stuff like this because you don’t want strays to cause an unintended death, resulting in wanted stars.
Once it’s stopped. Get in… This car is now yours…
Caliburn Mordred Top Speed (and How to Outrun the Cops)
The cars top speed is 210 mph (about 338 km/h) based on extensive testing I did on flat wide roads. I recommend the Rancho Coronado / Badlands loop where the blue painted roads are, because you can literally hit and hold the 210 for quite a while there.
As you come off the end of that loop into the city the car can hit 211 mph, as you are going downhill.
Old mate Johnny Silverhand will chime in from time to time – you’ll get an “Oh V.” or a “Cut the enthusiasm kid”, or the extra-special “Slow down turbo or you’ll get us killed… again!”
If you didn’t add yourself to the whitelist, the car’s alarm triggers when you climb in. This actually might be more fun for some players, who have a Need for Speed callback of out-running the cops. Basically this car is stupid fast, so once you get the wanted level you just find said wide, straight roads and hit 210 and it’s bye bye cops and everyone else.
Why the Mordred Is the Best Car in Cyberpunk 2077
The beauty of this car on top of the speed, and its luxurious handling, is that it is weaponised with bulletproof tyres. This feels like the best car in the game; I’ve loved on the Jen Rowley (so much so that we made a Jen Rowley Tee) and I’ve waxed lyrical about the regular Rayfield Caliburn and taken some fancy screenshots of it in action. But nothing beats Yorinobu’s dark gunmetal grey and neon purple dream machine.

1) There are two names on the whitelist:
Arlene Anwyl – Director of Engineering, Rayfield International
Access Level: (Tier-1 Executive) Full diagnostic, override and operator permissions
Yorinobu Arasaka – Primary Operator
Access Level: (Tier-Sovereign, VIP) Full operator permissions
NB: When you add yourself to the Whitelist, via the tablet on the bench with diagnostic screens, the computer file Whitelist DOES NOT update to include you.
2) There is an interesting shard you can obtain with engineer Arlene in contact with another Rayfield employee, Henry Bell
ARLENE ANWYL: I’m in position at the construction site, corner of Bullard and Sequoia.
HARRY BELL: do you have a satellite connection?
ARLENE ANWYL: Yes. Receiving live data from Mordred.
HARRY BELL: bloody hell, Arlene, that’s not standard protocol for an AutoDrive update! Especially not for a high-prio assignment! Let’s wait for our security specialists. If anything happens to that car…
ARLENE ANWYL: Oh don’t get your dick in a twist. They’re stuck in the Plex a few more days at least. Make do with what we have. The sooner we’re out of this godforsaken city the better.
HARRY BELL: right then… you’re the boss.
ARLENE ANWYL: By the way, do you plan on being an arsehole the entire trip back? Shall I mark it in my calendar?
HARRY BELL: just buzz me when the AutoDrive update is finished
3) Once you return to the construction yard after completing the mission, all of the tech, tables and guards are gone. It’s like it never existed so Arasaka (or Rayfield) has cleaned up.
4) Even if you whitelisted and avoided triggering the alarm, stealing Yorinobu’s car still might not go unnoticed (Cap did warn you after all). Just like when you piss off a gang, you can be cruising around Night City minding your own business, then boom, two vans full of Arasaka guards are on your tail.
Good news: You’re in the Mordred. Guns up, or hit 210 and leave them in the dust.

You stole Yorinobu’s car. Expect the odd van full of Arasaka goons to turn up when you’re driving around. You’re in the Mordred though, so gun them down or outrun them.
Is the Mordred better than the regular Caliburn?
Speed’s about the same. What you get on top is weapons and bulletproof tyres, which makes it the better car by a mile.
