Mitch Anderson, Aldecaldo, Tech Specialist, and all-round nice guy has a side-quest mission I’ll Fly Away that doesn’t always trigger. It can happen more often when you’re too hooked on fast travel. As a result time doesn’t pass in the way that it should so you end up going too far in quest lines leading to missing out on this particular trigger.

The quest that locks you out is completion of Queen of the Highway; which we’ve catalogued recently in how to obtain the the Widow Maker when you ignore Panam’s revenge quest on Nash Bane; OR if you start the quest With a Little Help from my Friends before Mitch’s Memorial quest triggers you’ll also lock it out.
The main reason why it can fail to trigger is because Mitch meets you in a rocky corner of the Aldecaldos camp, where they mourn over their fallen, and if you advance Panam’s quest the Aldecaldo’s camp actually packs up and moves to another location, thus nullifying this location.
How to Make Sure I’ll Fly Away Triggers
Mitch texts soon after Rider’s of the Storm, the mission where you save Saul Bright – So you basically need to slow down, and take stock, until he messages; make sure to reply immediately to his text and take up his mission once it triggers.
You can also travel back to the Aldecaldos camp directly after Riders on the Storm and seek Mitch out yourself; or hang around until he texts.
Who Is Mitch? Why He Gets His Own Mission
Mitch is one of the chattier characters in the Nomad’s camp, heck even in Cyberpunk, but he’s definitely on V’s wavelength. Whilst Panam is both anxious and headstrong, Mitch is a far more laid back character more adept at dealing with tech than people – but seemingly oblivious to that fact because he’s a chill choom to hang with.
Whilst he was a duo with Scorpion, you barely got any time with them together. You do actually get a lot of dialog with Mitch during the Nomad quest lines. Saving him at the Kang Tao AV crash site, Helping them get the Basilisk from Militech, and saving their leader for them.

If Saul is the heart, and Panam is the soul, then Mitch is the brains of the operation. He’s their tech expert, putting the Basilisk back together and running it through it’s paces before handing the reigns over to Panam and V.
He also defends you, army-of-one style, if you choose the Nomad end-game; Hopping in the Basilisk and taking the fight to Arasaka head on whilst Saul, Panam and V head into Mikoshi.
I’ll Fly Away: Scorpion’s (Driss Meriana) Send-Off and the Rewards
This mission, speaks to all of that – The quiet, brooding techy needs to say goodbye to his friend, and V’s there to help with the send off.

It’s pretty simple really… Scorpion bequeaths all his earthly posessions to Mitch, and so what does Mitch do? He takes a CHOOH2-soaked rag and lights the car on fire, with dead Scorpion in the trunk, and then launches his old pal off a cliff.
Then V and Mitch share a beer before Mitch asks V to drive his car back to camp as he wants some personal time to reflect on life with his friend (you don’t get Mitch’s car). He gives you Stinger, Scorpion’s knife, which is more sentimental than deadly, and he also gives you an action figurine of Scorpion (in Mortal Kombat mode) which V can place in their H10 Mega Building Apartment on the half-oval table by the window.
