Quick Facts About Clampdown Mission
How to start Clampdown in Cyberpunk 2077
Trigger: Complete The Heist and two of Wakako’s gigs, then wait for her message and head to the meeting point near the MLK & Brandon fast travel point. King reaches out because of your Konpeki reputation.
Watch out: Don’t alert the beat cops by the squad car outside the prison. If they turn hostile, the mission fails instantly. Approach slowly from the left and use the intercom.
Before you go in: Set your best weapons in your loadout. You won’t get them back until the armory, and the yard fight comes first. Why it matters.
Reward: The Coronation, an iconic pistol with +200% headshot damage and four mod slots.
Toughest fight: Darius Bale in the yard. No cover, so jump his laser sweep and hit the yellow weak point on his back. Full strategy.
Pro tip: When you escape with a 5-star wanted level, don’t fight. You’re one star from MaxTac. Run right, right again, then down the prison road into the industrial area to hide. See the map.
Assuming you’ve met the requirements the fixer Wakako will text you an opportunity that she doesn’t want a cut from, as she’s doing a favour.
The client, King, comes to you because of your Konpeki Plaza reputation then tries to leverage the emotional baggage of losing Jackie to help you save his choom Miguel.

The basic run down is as follows:
- King wants you to break Miguel out of Night City Prison
- Meshuga his netrunner, will sync with you during the op
- Corpo lifepath gets you unique dialog – I wonder if the other lifepaths do also?
- Optimise your loadout before you go in – you’ll understand why once you are inside
Clancy Brown is Weak Kingsley AKA King
On the call with King you’ll hear a very familiar voice, and it is that of none other than Clancy Brown AKA the Kurgan AKA The Screw Captain Byron Hadley from Shawshank AKA Mr Krabs from Spongebob; I also loved him in cameo roles in Lost (Kelvin Joe Inman from DHARMA initiative) and Starship Troopers (Career Sergeant Charles Zim the drill instructor).

I mentioned the Kurgan first, because that’s my first experience of Clancy Brown, and you have to remember that Highlander is now 40 years old (1986); and Clancy was just 27 years old when he played the menacing immortal The Kurgan, Victor Kruger, who was born in 1005 BC to the ruthless Kurgan culture known for the enjoyment they derive from their barbaric ways. The Kurgan is relevant here because the writer and showrunner behind Edgerunners, Bartosz Sztybor, said he’d been a huge Clancy Brown fan since watching him as The Kurgan in Highlander as a kid, and that he never imagined that actor would one day voice his lines and play a character so close to his heart.

The Konpeki Heist Tee
The heist was one of the most epic missions in any game; and you did it with your super choom Jackie. In honor of Mr Welles finally making it to the major leagues, we created this tee!
Inside the Prison: the Reaper Chip, Wex and Breaking Out of Your Cell
NB: When you approach the prison be sure not to trigger the beat cops standing next to their squad car. I did, and the mission immediately fails when they turn hostile – easiest way is to approach from the left hand side slowly and interact with the intercom
Enter the prison and you’ll get hammered by the scanner and taken to a cell; They’ve put a reaper chip into you which acts like an insta kill switch. Miguel’s got one too – you need to deactivate both.
In your cell, you meet the blue-mohawked Wex, whose story is that she’s in for killing cops (framed?), and who’s whacked out because of BD therapy – a new technology in the prison introduced by Warden Warsaw whereby “rehabilitation is achieved through eliciting genuine remorse not coddling or false hope”. In Wex’s BD simulation she gets beaten by cops and torn apart piece by piece. Even though she knows it’s fake, it’s too close to her reality in this place so it’s affecting her badly.

After Wex is taken for her next session, Meshuga syncs into your comms and reboots your chrome. First, take control of the camera with your scanner then cycle through the cams to find and deactivate the control box so you can open your cell.
Your Fellow Block B Inmates, The BD Therapy Bunch
Once you’re out you’ll need to head down the hallway past all the BD therapy booths to the bathroom, to collect your gift from King.
As you scan each of the prisoners you’ll get a lot of details about them. Here they are:
- Adrien Roca: Inmate P-46681, Alias: “Anch”; convicted of first-degree murder (17 counts) via drowning.
- Wexlyn Carver: Inmate P-46831, Alias: “Wex”; Current Charges: aggravated assault (7 counts), first-degree murder (5 counts), Felony Murder (2 counts).
- Finn Saller: Inmate P-47209, convicted of serial murder (42 counts) via stabbing.
- Kevin Shibuya: Inmate P-45834, Alias: “Overload”; convicted of first-degree murder (multiple counts) via neural intrusion.
- Erixa Khan: Inmate P-46955, Alias: “Rix”; convicted of neural identity theft.
- Pike Bello: Inmate P-45112; convicted of felony assault and cyberware theft.
The Coronation Pistol & King’s Outfit
In the bathroom, you get an outfit and a pistol. There’s mirror time and dialog with Johnny, as Meshuga walks you through what’s next. It’s going to be run ‘n’ gun from here, so I hope you brought your best 2 guns to supplement…

The Coronation
-
- It’s an iconic pistol with high end damage
- 200% headshot multiplier
- 75% armor penetration
- .6 sec charge time, but it’s SLOW on the recharge
- The pistol has 4 mod slots so use them wisely
Eliminate the 4 guards as you exit, but make it quick because they activate your Reaper chip and if you don’t kill them it will kill you. Once you kill them all it fails.
V’s, Miguel’s and Wex’s Criminal Records
Next you jack-in to the criminal database and you can see what you are in for (basically what King had added to your record)
- Valerie: Inmate P-51312; Alias: “V”; Current Charges: Criminal Enterprise, Racketeering, Drug Trafficking, Manufacturing Controlled Substances, Smuggling, Money Laundering
In addition they have the following information on file.
– **NCPD High Value Target: Apprehend Immediately **
– Believed to be the operational leader of a transnational narcotics trafficking ring, operating throughout Night City and the surrounding Free States.
– Suspected in the manufacture, importation, and distribution of ~3600 metric tons of controlled substances over the past 5 years.
– Successfully evaded capture during numerous operations and raids conducted by the NCPD and MaxTac.
We also get Miguel’s:
- Miguel Serrano: P-51273; Alias: “Miggy”; Current Charges: [CLASSIFIED]
We also get the full story on Wex: Convicted of the unprovoked shooting deaths of five NCPD officers and two civilian bystanders in Arroyo. The arresting officer for two of Wex’s previous convictions were among the officers killed. Subject was apprehended 5 miles away at her residence within 15 minutes of the incident. NCPD bodycam footage was unavailable. Ballistic records were sealed by the NCPD
Wex says she was framed – and her psychological profile reads: Subject exhibits severe emotional dysregulation characterized by impulsive aggression, paranoia, persecution, and violent outburst. Behavioral deterioration stems from a deep-seated denial of her criminal conviction. Approved for aggressive braindance rehabilitation, schedule 5.
Control Room: The Reaper Server – Whose Chips to Deactivate
Scan around the room to find the reaper server. The first thing you’ll probably notice is the control terminal with the big button on it. It’s not the reaper server, but you’ll see The Meatman Strikes Again screamsheet from our Blade Runner Easter Egg coverage, around the Advocet Hotel.

The reaper server is in the glass window room at the back. As you enter flip around and you’ll spot it. Once you’ve jacked in, you need to deactivate the reaper chips. Deactivate yours first, and if you feel like deactivating Wex do that next, before you also take care of Miguel’s.
The NCPD Prison Yard and Armory
Exit the server room and you’ll have a couple of NCPD to eliminate before you take the elevator down to the prison yard. Once you open the door I HOPE TO HELL you brought your best loadout cos if you are caught with the shit pistol King gives you (I have King’s Pistol, Skippy and Overwatch – so I was shit outta luck) then this is gonna be a hell of a fight.
I have Bloodpump + Biomonitor + Adrenline perks + Second Heart from my How to Beat Rhino in Beat on the Brat coverage, so even these situations I have a good chance of surviving.
The door closes behind you and locks you into a basketball court, in close quarters with heavily armed officers and drones. If you’ve only got The Coronation, go for Headshots as that is the pistol’s strength and reloading can get you killed. If you have a sub-machine gun use that to wipe out the enemies in close quickly.
Be wary cos if you take cover, which might seem clever, two baton officers flank you from the front, but a heavily armed gunner flanks you from behind, and he’s the one that will wipe you whilst you are dealing with the melee enemies. You don’t have grenades at this point so you’re screwed, and you just have to slug it out in this close quarters free-for-all.
The next phase is also tough when you enter the armory area – there’s a bunch of officers in here, and again they can get behind you so position yourself to keep them all in front of you. Once you get into the actual armory room your full loadout (including grenades) becomes available and you’ll be back to your bitching best! Switch to your good weapons then head out and into the next elevator to the Crisis Control.

Crisis Control: Kill the Prisoners or Let the Riot Run
After a couple of waves of NCPD you are given a moral decision to wipe out the prisoners by activating their reaper chips (listen to Meshuga) or deactivate them and allow the riot to continue which endangers King’s crew (listen to King). Ultimately this is a moral decision and doesn’t have a long-term consequence, but will change the dialog/text options after the mission. Make your decision – as far as I know the robots in this room are set decoration only; they didn’t do anything and I spent a good amount of time in this room.

Exit via one of the side doors, locate a window screen, open it and climb into the airvent. Make your way through and this’ll drop you near a ladder when you climb; you’ll find yourself in front of another door, that leads to another yard, and another near impossible battle. Close quarters with a cyberpsycho cop known as…Darius Bale.
How to Beat Darius Bale: The Cyberpsycho Cop
Good luck you’re gonna need it! This is a hella tough fight and there’s nowhere to hide; He has the same Cyberpsycho Mech Suit that a couple of Regina’s cyberpsychos have, but when you fought them you had roof cover (the one by the badlands, Euralio Alma and the one behind the ripperdoc clinic, Chase Coley) and the Dogtown one, Ross Ulmner – who is in the garage that opens up into Pacifica near the Mega Ride rollercoaster where you can find cat food, and a black cat!)
The laser is brutal when he aims that at your legs and does a 360 turn, you need to jump or it smashes you. as you whittle down his health he’ll fire this back-to-back.

To get his health down faster aim for the yellow power box on his back, and also time your incendiary grenades. You have to strafe/dodge whilst firing or he’ll hit you with power burst after power burst and you’ll be down for the count. When he moves into his defensive mode, he’ll drop to the ground and shield up, find a way to get behind him, and at the very least your health recharges will come back if you buy enough time; but you can also do damage here without worrying about him firing back.
Once he’s toast, loot him for the access card and you’ll also find a shard with our old friend L. Ortiz in dialog with Darius. You may remember officer Ortiz from the rapsheet when you capture the Semimaru in the Motorbreath gig. Hint: He and another officer stole the car from Mint, who they impersonate to take on vigilante hits on the city’s scumbags – by running them over in the car!
Escape and How to Lose the 5-Star Wanted Level
Head through the Sector A section (using the access card) and you’ll see what happened to C-block inmates if you activated the reaper chips; Johnny chimes in here also about the carnage.

Johnny Silverhand’s Car Tee
They might have taken his soul but the classic car remains! Even Rogue is smiling! Get your slice of Johnny Silverhand with this tee!
Meshuga will let you know Miguel got out; so know it’s time to plant a mine and get out of here. Johnny shows up with an enthusiastic “fuck yeah!” shoot the mine, and you’ve got your evacuation route.
As soon as you escape you’ve got a 5-star wanted level and you need to find cover fast!

I ran immediately to my right and the right again and down the middle of the prison road, towards the industrial area near MLK & Brandon Fast Travel. If you get to where I am on my map you’ll have places to hide and get rid of the wanted level.
Don’t try fighting the cops at this stage you are one level away from Maxtac and you don’t want that fight. (or do you?).
One you lose the cops Meshuga calls, they’ve wiped your records clean…
Then King calls to thankyou for performing in an impossible situation — and then the mission ends.
Cyberpunk 2077 Clampdown Mission FAQs
Who voices Weak Kingsley?
Clancy Brown, the Kurgan, Captain Hadley and Mr. Krabs himself.
Can you bring your own weapons into Clampdown?
Not at first. You go in with what King leaves you in the bathroom, and your full loadout only comes back at the armory. So set your best weapons before you start, because the yard fight before the armory is brutal.
How do you get out of your cell?
Once Meshuga reboots your chrome, take over the cameras with your scanner and cycle through them until you find the control box. Deactivate the control box and the cell opens.
What is the Reaper chip?
A kill switch the prison implants in inmates. The guards trigger yours as you leave the bathroom, so kill them fast, because if they live, it kills you. You deactivate it for good at the Reaper server.
Should you deactivate Wex’s Reaper chip?
It’s optional. Do yours first, Wex’s if you want, then Miguel’s. It doesn’t affect the outcome as Wex dies in the riot.
Kill the prisoners or let the riot continue?
Meshuga wants you to trigger the prisoners’ Reaper chips. King wants them deactivated, even though the riot puts his crew at risk. It’s a moral choice with no long-term consequence, but if you kill them, you see the aftermath in C-block, and Johnny has something to say about it.
How do you beat Darius Bale?
Keep moving, because there’s no cover. Jump when he sweeps the laser at your legs. Hit the yellow weak point on his back and use grenades. When he goes defensive, get behind him and buy time for your health items to recharge.
How do you lose the 5-star wanted level in Clampdown?
Don’t fight, you’re one star away from MaxTac. Head right, right again, then down the prison road towards the industrial area near the MLK & Brandon fast travel point. There’s cover there to break line of sight.
What’s the reward for completing Clampdown?
The Coronation, an iconic pistol: four mod slots, +200% headshot multiplier, +75% armour penetration, and a slow 0.6-second charge. Plus King’s outfit. Meshuga also wipes your records clean.
