Cyberpunk 2077 never ceases to amaze me and this playthrough has been interesting because of all the new finds we’ve come across. The current one occured whilst fighting my way through the Beat on the Brat fight club missions issued by Coach Fred.
In the Animals fight club warehouse where you fight Rhino, there is also a gig For My Son offered by El Capitan (quite far into his gig list). Depending on the sequence that you do these two missions, and assuming you kill Rhino in the gig, there’s an opportunity to see her alive and well (and speak to her) at the final fight of Beat on the Brat with Razor Hughes at the Grand Imperial Mall!
I did this sequence of events in this order to get the bug…
- Fight Rhino in The Beat on the Brat
- Kill Rhino in El Capitan’s For My Son
- Travel to the final Beat on the Brat fight, and talk to Rhino
Is it Possible to Kill Rhino in Cyberpunk 2077 During Beat on the Brat?
Yes, but first you have to win the fight!
Rhino is the only challenging fight outside of the Razor Hughes fight, in Beat on the Brat with the others being easy button mashers. For Rhino, it’s tempting to go in and throw haymakers but she tends to block everything and when your stamina is down she launches her own atomic bombs and ends up hammering you. It’s best to block and wait for an opening and you’ll get a few combos in before she’s blocking up again. You know this is a tough one cos <em>Coach Fred</em> texts in all caps “HOLY FARRRRRKKKEN CONGRATZZZZ”.
Once you’ve beaten her, Rhino becomes friendly and says she’ll tell the other Animals in the fight club not to bother you.
Now, if the For My Son gig offered to you by fixer El Capitan, Muamar Reyes is active – then all of the animals in here have the yellow icon that indicate they are an enemy. Because Rhino is best buds with you now, despite them being enemies they won’t go hostile as you walk around their warehouse gym. BUT only when you stay out of the inner buildings.
Once you go into the buildings and are spotted they become red-icon hostile and all of the Animals, including Rhino, will attack you.
Now, here’s the fun part, because of her fight club energy Rhino is actually just like a cyberpsycho with 100% health bar, and she’s an absolute bullet sponge so it takes a lot of ammo to get her down. She’s also a powerful melee fighter so if she gets close to you, she is gonna wreck your shizzle.
El Capitan’s For My Son Gig: How to Trigger the Rhino Bug
The gig details are as follows, and this gig is number 10 or 11 in El Capitan’s list so it’s right near the end. I think the only mission after this is the big Arasaka boat one.
- Fixer: El Capitan (Muamar Reyes)
- Tier: Tier 4, one of the last two gigs on his list alongside “Desperate Measures”
- Location: The Animals fight club gym, same building as the Rhino fight
- Objective: Take out Logan Garcia, who runs the illegal fight club
There’s two clear reasons why most playthroughs will never trigger this bug. Firstly, it sits so late on Muamar’s gig list that most players will have cleared the Beat on the Brat (including the final flight with Razor Hughes) long before they get to the gig – and I reckon that’s exactly what the devs were banking on given Rhino’s appearance at the final fight. Secondly, it’s heavily suggested you stealth this gig. There’s multiple ways in without alerting the rest of the fight club, and all the Animals are absolute bullet sponges so even a guns-blazing build is going to find it tough going. With a stealth-in, wreck Logan Garcia, stealth-out strategy you never end up alerting the gym and having to fight Rhino again.
So, to actually trigger the bug, you need both the gig and the fight live at the same time. Fight and beat Rhino first, then go loud on El Capitan’s gig while it’s still sitting active in your journal, at the same location, before you’ve moved on. Get that sequencing right and you’ll see exactly what I did.
When you clear it you get another Coach Fred text message…
Familiar Faces at the Final Beat on the Brat Fight
Once you get to the Grand Imperial Mall for the Final Fight with Razor Hughes, you’ll see some familiar faces. Starting first on your left as you enter the ring area:
El César (César Diego Ruiz): He remarks “I knew only the best would beat me” alluding to the fact that you made the final; He mentions the impending birth of his child with Micaela Ruiz – a little aside here, supposedly because I let him keep both car and cash during our fight you are supposed to get a nice text message from him a few days/weeks later, but never happened for me (yet). Also Micaela is supposed to show for the fight, but only César showed for me.
… Right after César you can actually talk to Razor Hughes himself. He’s in a little cordoned off section and laughs at V before you enter into a dialog where he says “One knock to the jaw and you’ll curl up in a tiny ball”. It also includes some snappy snide remarks from Johnny Silverhand. I think many people miss this…
Vik (Viktor Vektor): Your reliable ripperdoc is there, and he’s actually your cornerman for the fight. If you remember back to Jackie’s ofrenda, Viktor gets up and offers a worn-out pair of gloves as a tribute to Jackie (they actually look like Rocky’s Cleto Reyes gloves which is a nice little Italian/Valentino tie-in), and talks about how Jackie was a great fighter with some sledgehammer fists. So no wonder he is in your corner.
The Twins (Esquerdo and Certo): Although claiming to be the same mind with 2 bodies, Esquerdo (literally left) and Certo (literally right), are still referred to by V as “The Twins”. Either way they wish you good luck for the fight and congratulate you afterwards also.
Now there’s also some notable ommissions:
Buck (Buck Arnold): Naturally because you decommission him during your fight Buck isn’t here. There’s the option to “up the stakes” during the betting talk, to get him to toss in the O’Five sniper rifle (A modded version of Techtronika’s Grad that fires explosive rounds that deal thermal damage and apply burn); But you can get it whether he bets it or not because once you beat him (after you make Buck bet the rifle) he’s a sore loser and his goons attack immediately forcing you to eliminate all of them, and loot the rifle. If you didn’t get him to put up the sniper rifle once he’s paid you for winning you can provoke him into a post-fight fight, and it plays out the same way with you eliminiating him and his goons, and then afterwards the O’Five sits on the same barrel in front of the truck allowing you to loot it once the fight is over.
Ozob (Ozob Bozo): The frightening clown… This ones interesting for a couple of reasons. The devs know that there is a chance you blow Ozob’s face off, because if you punch him enough times in the nose, which is actually a grenade, it ends up exploding and blowing up poor Ozob with it.
You should try and avoid this if you haven’t done his gig first, because you get his unique Ozob’s Nose grenade blueprint from that gig, and it’s a legendary level fragmentation grenade with a visual gag of purple smoke cloud, confetti and party clown noises emanating from it.
I believe the devs left him out of the final fight attendees because of the high chance you blow him up; BUT it may also be because his Beat on the Brat fight in Pacifica doesn’t actually need to be done before you get the final fight with Razor Hughes. So because it’s an optional fight, the devs also may have decided it’s goofy if Ozob shows up to the finals after you haven’t even fought him yet.
There’s a lot of other green icons indicating people you could normally talk to, but the final one in this section to talk to is Rhino. Wait… but I killed Rhino… It doesn’t matter because…
Rhino Shows up at the Final Fight Anyways
Rhino is there casually pumping iron and you can have a quick chat where you ask her what’s up, and she says, friendly as ever “Next time I’m wiping the floor with you, you’ll see”.
What’s clearly happened here is the devs just never envisaged you going full guns blazing into the Animal’s fight club gym at the same time that the Beat on the Brat fight competition is going on. The gig is clearly pushing a stealth angle here, by giving you difficult enemies to deal with – Theres a bunch of salty doods in strategic cover taking pot shots, and climbing ladders to get you so its a really tough fight… I’m playing on HARD so it can be super tough. Even if they considered that you would do that, they probably expected that you would be long done with the Beat on the Brat competition, so by the time this El Capitan gig rolls around at the end of his list, it doesn’t matter whether you off Rhino or not because she’d already have appeared at the fight you had weeks beforehand.
How to Actually Beat Razor Hughes Fair and Square (no cheeze-its)
Razor boasts an impressive record of 47 Wins, 0 Losses, 20 KOs (and remarks that you look like a 21st if I’ve ever seen one).
Let’s go through the build:
- Body 20 – if you can manage it; and make sure you have adrenaline perks
- Gorilla Arms Tier 5++ – with thermal/electricity for extra DMG is a no-brainer
- Bloodpump + Biomonitor + Adrenline perks – Biomonitor naturally triggers Bloodpump, which triggers adrenaline at 50% health reduction, turning V into a juggernaut wrecking ball, and once you have this in play Razor goin’ down.
With the build set we move onto the strategy for defeating Razor Hughes; Button mashing Razor does not work. He blocks everything, and if you block and wait for openings, that also doesn’t work because he goes defensive as soon as he’s thrown his shots.
Conserving stamina is key and only unloading when he staggered. How do you achieve this? With the counter-block or counter-punch. If you time your block as Razor throws his explosive punches you trigger a slow-time window, where he is open, and then you take Vik’s advice and unleash liver shots (Razor has had recent surgery to his abdomen so this hammers him). Within 4-5 counter-block then punch cycles he will go down.
The beauty here is that if you miss a couple of times (and you probably will) and Razor collects you with some shots, it won’t matter because the biomonitor kicks in and triggers both blood pump and andrenaline and you become super deadly. I did this on hard mode, and got through first go … previously on easier settings I have really struggled with this fight.
I think I’ve only ever won previously by cheesing it. So this is the cheese free method.
What About the Little Girl at the Fight?
Good question! Some speculate she’s actually controlling Razor (because she’s holding a remote control device).
But this has largely been debunked because her entire throughline is to get YOU to beat him up, and he’s insanely difficult. Her presence comes right after Coach Fred suggests you throw the fight for more eddies – and what prideful V roleplayer is ever gonna do that? But… even for those who are leaning that way, the little girl at the fight and her sad story about her father is supposed to tug your heart strings into wanting to win…
When you bump into her post fight (after you’ve won) she’s talking remotely with others, about how her scam worked (meaning tricking you into smashing the bejeezus out of Razor) and it feels more like she is a bookie talking to gang members. Let’s face it, Razor is not expected to lose, and you’ve also been approached to throw the fight, so all the big-betting would be on Razor Hughes to win the fight.
How do you account for the remote control? Well, perhaps she is recording the fight on a drone (one of those bombus robot drones) for her clientelle, and showing how she’s actually forced the fight to NOT be fixed; creating a fantastic return on investment for her gambling clients.

What happens if you kill Rhino in Cyberpunk 2077?
Killing Rhino outside the Beat on the Brat fight, like during El Capitan’s For My Son gig, doesn’t undo anything from the boxing questline itself. She still shows up alive at the final fight, talks to you like normal, and even throws out a line about beating you next time.
Is it possible to beat Rhino in Cyberpunk 2077?
Yes, in two different ways. You can beat her fairly in the Beat on the Brat boxing match at Rancho Coronado, or you can kill her outright later if she’s turned hostile during El Capitan’s gig in the same building. Both are legitimate, in-game outcomes.
Is the Rhino appearance at the final fight in Beat on the Brat a bug or an easter egg?
It’s a bug, not an intentional easter egg. The devs almost certainly never expected players to trigger open combat with Rhino before finishing her off properly in the boxing match and El Capitan’s gig at the same time, which is why she still turns up alive at the final fight even after you’ve killed her.
Do gorilla arms work well for Beat on the Brat?
Yes, gorilla arms are a strong pick for the Beat on the Brat fights, Rhino & Razor included, especially once upgraded with thermal or electric damage. They hit hard enough to get through blocking opponents without needing to rely purely on timing.
Does the little girl control Razor Hughes in the final fight?
No, that’s a popular theory but it doesn’t hold up. Her entire purpose is to convince you to win, not throw the fight, which wouldn’t make sense if she were rigging it against you. The remote control she’s holding more likely ties her to a drone recording the match for her own clients.
